My hard drive won't format during setup

We've seen some instances where customers' hard drives are not getting formatting during the Setup process. While we investigate what is going on, here's a workaround that, in most cases, should get you up and running.

Manually Formatting the Hard Drive

When you get to the point in the setup wizard where the hard drive formatting fails...
 
  • Exit setup
  • Open a new browser window
  • Sign in to the Simple.TV website again
 
You should see a screen which says "Simple.TV is currently unavailable". There should be a little orange light in the top right of the screen (that's telling you that the hard drive is not set up correctly).

Now do this:
 
  • Click on the little "gear" in the top right of the screen
  • Choose Settings
  • Select Storage in the window that appears
  • You should see a prompt to type the word "RESET" to begin formatting the drive


Manually Scanning for Channels

Also, because you exited Setup before it was fully complete, you'll need to scan for channels by doing this:

  • Click on the little "gear" in the top right of the screen
  • Choose Settings
  • Select Guide in the window that appears
  • Choose "Rescan Channels..." and follow the on-screen prompts
