Will I get antenna reception at my house?

Last Updated: Sep 27, 2012 04:18PM PDT
The availability and strength of antenna signals received at your place of residence (or wherever you set up your Simple.TV), depends on how close you are to a broadcast tower, the elevation and type of antenna you are using, among other things.

However, there are some resources online that might help you to determine whether an antenna will work for you, and how many channels and what kind of reception you can expect to get:
  • Antenna Web is an online resource that provides information about channel availability and signal strength at the address you type in.
  • If you have an antenna at your house, hook it up to your TV and try scanning for channels (per the instructions that came with your TV). You should be able to receive these same channels using Simple.TV.
  • Do any of your neighbors have an antenna? If so, ask them how many channels they receive and the quality of their signal—this could give you a fair idea of what to expect when you hook up your own antenna.
