Cooling fan always running or noisy [UPDATED]

Question:
Why is the cooling fan on my Simple.TV always running?

Answer: 
On Feb. 10/14 we released an update that should improve device power management and result in both decreased volume levels and cooling fan activity. This update will automatically be applied to all Simple.TV Dual Tuner DVRs when they are restarted.  

To make sure you have this update running, you must reboot your Simple.TV. To restart your Simple.TV, login to the website and open the Settings dialog.  Click on the Reset button for your dual tuner DVR and then click REBOOT.

If you're having issues with this, you may choose to simply unplug and then reconnect the power adapter from your DVR.  Once the DVR has restarted it will automatically be using this new update.

After a restart, your fan will run at full speed for up to 90 seconds after which time you should notice a decreased noise level. Please note that the fan will step up to higher speeds when needed for cooling.
